About
OccupyTucson.org is the unofficial informational/collaboration resource for the OccupyTucson movement. This movement sprung out of solidarity for the OccupyWallstreet movement occurring in New York, and the OccupyTogether movement growing across the country.
This is a leaderless movement, aiming to engage all parts of the 99% to participate in Direct Democracy. The organizers of this movement are the everyday people participating in a movement with many de-centralized goals, with an over-arching theme of protesting government corruption from corporate money and national income disparity. We use a tool called the “General Assembly” to facilitate open, participatory and horizontal organizing between members of the public. “Working Groups” are smaller meetings open to all with a specific focus or task management, that then reports back to the General Assembly.
We welcome people from all ethnicities, ages, genders, orientations, and beliefs to participate in this movement.
General Assembly meets Saturday at 10:00 am, and General Discussion meets Wednesdays at 7:00 pm, both outside at Military Plaza (Armory) Park, at North 6th and East 12th & 13th Streets, weather permitting, adjourning to Shot in the Dark as a fallback.
Information about our Working Groups can be found under the menu header Working Groups. Anyone is welcome to attend and participate in a working group meeting. Scheduled meetings can be found on our Event Calendar or the Upcoming Events in the sidebar.
Occupy Tucson currently has no office, but plans to move into one at the Justice Center, perhaps in July,
Occupy Tucson provides teach-ins and other workshops, which can be found on our Event Calendar.
